Fitbit Coach // Product Designer

Experience Design, Brand Identity, Art Direction

It's hard to get a good workout when you're at home or traveling. The prices are high, it's difficult to stay motivated, and people aren't sure what exercises are most effective. With the release of Fitbit’s first smartwatch, we wanted to give people an easy way to exercise wherever they are by guiding them through workouts on their wrist.

In parallel to this work, the Fitbit Coach mobile app was undergoing a visual refresh to better adapt Fitbit’s design system. I worked to not only flush out the workout experience on Ionic, but also helped in systematizing the visual experience and ensuring that it was carried though on all experiential platforms.

A New Use Case

Our objectives were to give people an easy way to work out wherever they are, provide a variety of options so people always have a new way to stay in shape, and give users a personalized workout experience based on their past performance and history. The experience began on web, and transitioned to mobile. User testing the wearable experience surfaced entirely different needs. The app needed to be simplified, requiring a less cognitive load.
